Yeah I saw it on some facebook page Clay liked and immediately thought of you. Too busy yesterday to post it to Oppo.

lol, when I go back outside I'll get'em for you. Gonna be on the phone with blokes from Lotus UK for a while trying to track these damn headlight motor bits, most likely discontinued

...hopefully not for long. My wife is dead set on a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria..... in pink

I've seen a couple in Mexico DF but I've never worked on one. I saw it on Wheeler Dealers and it was a bit odd but not too bad with a fresh hydro pump and lines. Esprit and old Lagondas on the other hand are just a nightmare and pretty much ZERO parts are available. Lotus lacks the funding to provide a good technical guide in repairs also. We usually spend a lot of time on the phone with HQ asking questions

even better. you must restore a classic ford AND IT SHALL BE PINK

fingers crossed. My wife will except no other car.

Tis the season, here at least. It never fails right after the snow is done, and right before it starts we get an influx of Miatas and RX-8s either being brought out of slumber, or put back into it.

how about a hot rodded one?

I can definitely see that on your end. People put their toys away I suppose. Same thing with A/C stuff and radiator sales here when summer starts.
Since winter doesn't exist on the Texas Gulf Coast, I think this is just a ploy against us in some way lol. Basically, ZERO parts can be ordered and you tech/parts guides are trash. We spend hours on the phone with the UK and even those blokes don't help much.

I thought service was the natural habitat for every Lotus.
Wait in service line, get repaired, drive back around to service line. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It would probably be just having one in running order and a nice paint job. Modern brakes would be the only real upgrade. I'll look around craigslist in a sec to get an idea but not sure whether to search as Crown Vic or Fairlane-Crown Vic.

We've dabbled in some exotics here and there and it was always fun trying to get parts/service help.
I had to call for a navigation disc for a Maserati Spyder once, and was told "It's $2,000. And it may not work. There's no way of knowing if the car was MADE with nav, until you put in the disc. And it is not returnable."

I do not envy you good sir. I'm going to go play with some AMG stuff with great parts availability and great service manuals.

The older cars are a bitch though buddy. Those usually are worked on by the owner or at the most sent to English independent shops. E30's are not stacked at BMW dealerships right now. New OEM parts are near impossible to get and our technical guides are no good on these old troublesome cars

yay WIS!!!

LOL oh man, I remember those calls lol. Most of those you have to provide all these extra numbers located on a plate somewhere on the car. Specific set of numbers on a specific side. Where is the plate?....under the carpet, in the transmission tunnel, or some BS like that lol

More complicated than a Land Rover?
For listening, because sometimes things get complicated

Who are you married to? One of the Pink Ladies from Grease?
![]() 10/08/2014 at 11:18 |

it's not a matter of complication but more so parts availability on old cars. Still, the term "hand built in England" is never a good thing to see lol :]

i'm married yes but she just doesn't really like newer cars. They tried to break some type of World Record in Mexico DF last weekend with classic cars. She just got further convinced :]

I literally see those all over the place in summer. Multiple a week. They're reliable (for their age), parts availability is great (for their age) and when you know what you're doing aren't that hard to work on. Together with the Volvo Amazon it's probably the most common 40+ year old car here.
